Robert Infantino ’58
and his wife
Ginger celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary on June 23, 2012. They have
6 children from ages 27-49. Five are
educators. Bob attended his 50th reunion
class gathering at Canisius College in
May 2012.
Stanley Nowak ’58
was elected first
President of the newNYSUT Retiree
Council #44 which includes retirees
from the Buffalo Teachers Federation,
Buffalo Educational Support Team,
Substitute Teachers of Buffalo and The
Transportation Aides of Buffalo.
Patrick Curley ’59
is in great health and
plays handball regularly. Pat and Carolyn
have beenmarried 47 years and have 3
children, 6 grandchildren.
Joseph Morbeto ’59
and his wife
Kathie are enjoying retirement splitting
time between Florida and golfing with
family in Virginia.
Fr. MarkWolski ’59
is happily retired
and living on the Angola Lake Shore.
Michael Zahm ’63
retired in 2000 from
Lancaster, NY Central School District
after 33 years teaching high school
English and enjoys traveling, reading
and spending two winter months each
year in Florida.
Robert Inderbitzen ’64
is semi-retired
on Tellico Lake in Vonore, TN. He is
president of REI Safety Services
providing DOT, OSHA and General
Safety Auditing Services. Broke 90
this year on the golf course.
Dean Higgins ’64
has been practicing
law in the private and public sector for
39 years.
Carmen D Gentile ’64
,
retired U.S.
Army Lieutenant Colonel, has been
appointed to a three year term on the
Joint Leadership Council of Veterans
Service Organizations by Virginia
Governor Bob McDonnell. The Joint
Leadership Council consists of 23
members appointed by the Governor and
provides a vehicle for veterans service
organizations to collaborate with the
Department of Veterans Services on
meeting the needs of Virginia’s veterans.
Kenneth Kopacz ’65
has retired as long
time Director of Recreation and Youth
Services in town of Cheektowaga having
also served as Parks Director. He is
currently serving as Trustee for Infant of
Prague Parish and taking courses at Christ
the King Seminary. He enjoys getting
together for the Class of 1965 lunches.
Carmen Manella ’65
was recently
appointed director of Research,
Wadsworth Center, New York State
Department of Health. An expert on
mitochondria and bioenergetics, he is
consulting with David Attenborough on
his latest project on animal evolution.
George Pfohl ’66
is approaching 64
years old and has cut back to a 3 day week
as an ophthalmologist at Eyecare and
Vision Associates. He is filling some of his
time by organizing ophthalmic trips and
volunteering his services to folks in the
Amazon.
Mark Lema ’67
recently received the
SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence
in Faculty Service, and has also
received the New York State Society
of Anesthesiologists’ Distinguished
Service Award.
Fr. John Bucki, S.J. ’68
has been
appointed rector of the Jesuit
Community at Le Moyne College in
Syracuse. He is also the Director of
Campus Ministry.
Gerald Notaro ’68
recently retired as
University Librarian at the University of
South Florida, having also served as Dean
of the Library.
John DeNisco ’69
received SUNY
College Award for Faculty Excellence
for 2012.
Joseph Doraski ’69
retired in 2012
from First Energy Corporation. He is
now living in South Carolina.
Wally Balon ’70,
celebrated his 60th
birthday during a party at the Park
County Club and guests were instructed
to make a donation to CHS in lieu of a
birthday present.
Dennis Tobolski ’70
was the
goalkeeper coach for the State Champion
Canisius High School Soccer team in
2012; in 2011 he was eastern U.S. junior
college soccer assistant coach of the year;
and was inducted as a member of the
Cattaraugus County, NY Sports Hall of
Fame in 2012.
Mike Jay ’71
was recently named
the chair, Division of Molecular
Pharmaceutics, at the UNC Eshelman
School of Pharmacy. His research
interfaces pharmaceutical and nuclear
sciences to solve problems related to
nuclear imaging.
Fred Kirisits ’71
is in his 34th year as
Director of Music at Mt. Mercy Academy.
His Show, Women’s and Handbell Choirs
all earned goldmedals at the Heritage
Music Festival in Orlando this past April.
Thomas Virginia ’71
continues to
teach three sections of Latin at Amherst
High School and started teaching three
sections of Latin to 6th, 7th and 8th
graders at Christ the King Elementary
School in Snyder. He is President of
the Library Board of the Town of
Concord, NY.
J. Michael O’Connell ’73
for the past
ten years has served as a Director at the
Nuclear Energy Institute, the trade
association for the nuclear energy
industry. Michael manages the
Congressional Information Program,
