Administration Update
Robert J . Reger, Jr. ’66
is new Chairman
t may be an understatement to say Robert J.
Reger, Jr. ’66 has a lot of different demands on
his time.
As senior counsel at the law firmMorgan Lewis & Bockius in
New York City, he specializes in investor-owned utilities and
regulated industries in the electric and natural gas markets.
He is president and owner of The Inn at Woodstock Hill,
a well-known inn and conference center in Northeast
Connecticut. He helped found and now serves as a member
of the board for Marden Rehabilitation Associates, Inc., a
physical and occupational therapy and home health care
company with operations in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West
Virginia. He developed and helps run a real estate rental
business in suburban Atlanta, GA. That’s not to mention
volunteer boards and councils on which he serves.
So when Mr. Reger was offered the opportunity to serve
as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Canisius High
School he thought long and hard about making the
commitment. Before accepting, he met with president,
Fr. Joseph Costantino, S.J., for many hours, discussing future
plans and strategies for the school. Mr. Reger liked what he
heard and saw, recognizing areas with which he knew he
could help. He made the commitment.
“It is challenging to be named board chair
and I am excited about the next steps at
Canisius,”
Mr. Reger says.
“I see this as a joyful
opportunity because we have many wonderful
people on the board, in the administration and
faculty, and among our alumni. I’m looking
forward to working together in a thoughtful
and dynamic relationship.”
Named Mr. Canisius in his senior year, Mr. Reger went on
to earn his bachelor of arts degree,
summa cum laude in
cursu honorem,
from Fordham University where he was a
member of Phi Beta Kappa. He then earned his J.D. from
the University of Virginia
School of Law and began
his career with Reid and
Priest, a NewYork City law
firm that became Thelen
Reid and Priest, a noted
national firm, where he
practiced for 35 years. Mr.
Reger then joined Morgan
Lewis, an international law
firm with offices around
the world, from Boston,
MA to Beijing, China.
Although he has lived outside of Western New York for over
40 years, Mr. Reger has kept his connections to Canisius High
School, including many lifelong friendships that started
at 1180 Delaware Avenue. He served as a trustee for two
terms at Canisius after being asked by the late Rev. James
P. Higgins, S.J. ’72, former school president. Mr. Reger was
inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Honor at
Canisius High School in 2008.
The oldest of six children, Mr. Reger has an extensive family
in Buffalo and returns to his hometown frequently. He
says he plans to spend plenty of time here in his new role as
chairman. In fact, he owns a condo onWest Ferry Street, quite
literally in Canisius High School’s backyard.
