Support the Annual Fund
The outstanding Jesuit education Canisius High School provides
for young men in Western New York is made possible through
generous alumni and benefactors who consistently support the
school. Like so many things in today’s economic environment,
the cost of educating these young men grows higher and higher.
In fact, there is a nearly $2,000 difference between the cost of
educating each of approximately 900 students and the tuition
charged by the school. That is why the Annual Fund is so important.
The Annual Fund provides the critical revenue needed to afford
any qualified student, regardless of his financial situation, the
benefits of a Canisius education. The Annual Fund also supports
clubs and extracurricular activities, athletics and intramurals,
dynamic information technology (iPads), tuition assistance and
other programs.
“Every gift to the Annual Fund, regardless of size,
makes a significant difference in the lives of our
young men,”
says Deborah Burke, director of annual
giving.
“The fund benefits the entire student body
where more than 60% of the students receive some
form of scholarship or tuition assistance.”
Mrs. Burke notes that monies donated to the Annual Fund are
used within that year, thus the fund needs to be replenished year
after year. Continued support of the Annual Fund helps ensure
immediate needs at Canisius are always met.
We hope you can help with this vital fund
and this issue of
Canisius High School Today
includes an Annual Fund envelope for
donor convenience. For more information

GAMBIT XL in 2014
When the last GAMBIT 2013 bid paddle had been lowered,
the GAMBIT organizers were already looking ahead to 2014
when the fundraiser will mark its 40th year. GAMBIT fans
can mark their calendars on March 29, 2014 as the date
has been set and the wheels are in motion for planning this
special event.
Betsy and John Sullivan ’88 and Kellie and Steve Ulrich will
serve as co-chair couples. Mrs. Sellick hopes to boost
sponsorship levels and invites all supporters to join in
early. More information on participation, donations and
sponsor opportunities can be found online at the GAMBIT
page on canisiushigh.org/alumni.cfm.
“The needs are greater in this day and age,
so GAMBIT is more important than ever to
Canisius High School,”
concludes Mrs. Sellick.
“The dedication of the volunteers and donors is
what makes GAMBIT work as we celebrate the
past and look forward to a bright future.”
