with a two-point conversion, with :18 remaining to
overtake Canisius.
Mercer Timmis ’12 battled through some injuries
to lead the Crusaders throughout the year. He es-
tablished a single-season and career rushing totals
and also set a new record in scoring touchdowns.
The JV and frosh teams had exceptional seasons
for Canisius. The frosh produced a 7-1 record,
while the JV team went 6-2.
Volleyball
For the 12th consecutive season, the Canisius
volleyball team won the MMAA regular-season
title and followed with the playoff championship
as well. The team dominated the league competi-
tion and proceeded to do the same in the playoffs.
The Crusaders defeated St. Mary’s and St. Francis
each in straight sets to capture the All-Catholics.
In its final match of the regular season, Canisius
defeated previously top-ranked and undefeated
Frontier.
Seniors Russ Fiorella, Peter McKelvey and Jack
Fleming were standouts all season. David Jepson’s
’13 emergence as one of the top performers in
Western New York bodes well for a run at a 13th
straight title next season. In addition, the JV team
captured its league crown.
