Robert A. Martin ‘63
retired in December
2011 and lives at the Sheehan Residence,
a retirement home for Buffalo priests.
Thomas R. Donovan ‘67
retired from
the Philadelphia Fire Department as
head of the Fire Prevention Division.
He also recently developed for
BestDriverSafetyTraining.com a driver
safety program to address the unacknowl-
edged driver fatality problem in the United
States.
Francis X. O’Connor ‘67
is the new
vice president of the 27,000-member
Pennsylvania Bar Association.
Timothy R. Scanlon ‘67
just retired from
Genzyme after a career in healthcare
spanning more than 30 years.
Lawrence M. Lester ‘67
is taking full
advantage of four years of Latin as a
member of the “Schola” at his parish,
St. Thomas More in Decatur, Ga., where
they sing Gregorian chant at mass once a
month.
Robert C. Koza ‘67
was twice-honored by
the American Legion, with the New York
State Adult Scouter of the Year Award and
with the Square Knot Award.
Joe Smith ‘68
was surprised to see class-
mate, occasional physics class lab partner
and National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration climate scientist Mike
McPhaden ’68 interviewed on CBS News
in June about the return of El Nino. Mike’s
parting yearbook advice to Joe was “Don’t
get electrocuted in your home lab over the
summer.” Having avoided that fate, Joe
is now in his 31st year with ExxonMobil
Upstream Research Company where his
research focuses on the effects of oil and
gas activities on the marine environment.

was honored
by Canisius College as a distinguished
alumnus.

was appointed to
the board of directors of the Holy Cross
Head Start Program, Inc.
Peter H. Kreher ‘70

was recently
appointed to the New York State Board
of Optometry by the New York State

is working with a
hospital-based multi-specialty medical
group while maintaining a family practice.

retired from
the FBI in September 2009 and is cur-
rently a consultant/contractor for SAVA
Solutions. When not working, he enjoys
time with family, including his three-year-
old grandson, Sean.

received
the Eminent Leadership Scholar Award
from the Academy of Management for
outstanding career contributions to the
scholarly study of leadership.

was recently pro-
moted to executive vice president of the
Allegany Community Federal Credit Union
in Allegany, N.Y.
Joseph J. Lucenti ‘73
is in his 15th year
as principal of Akron High School and
received the Bill Grobe High School
Principal of the Year award given by the
State Administrators of New York. He
lives happily in Elma with wife, Diane, and
three dogs (Stasha, Lucy and Lola). He

Timothy J. Karnes ‘74
is the president
of Buffalo Gourmet Sandwich, Inc., a
franchise of Jimmy John’s Gourmet
Sandwiches located in the University
Plaza across from University at Buffalo’s
South Campus. He also owns and oper-
ates Good Samaritan Care Givers, a
home health agency dedicated to helping
senior citizens to live independently in
their own homes by assisting them with
daily living activities.
James C. Shehan ‘78
is the U.S. corporate
vice president for legal, government and
quality for Novo Nordisk, a world leader in
diabetes care.
Richard A. Grimm ‘79
was elected chair-
man of the board of directors of UNYTS,
the leading procurement organization in the
United States. UNYTS is one of only eight
centers nationwide to house organ, tissue
and eye procurement in one location.
Michael T. Kubiniec ‘ 79
recently moved to
Hickory, N.C. from San Jose, C.A., to work
as manager of U.S. Product Engineering for
Corning, Inc.’s, Corning Cable Systems.
Sean P. Arnold ‘81
is glad to be back from
a three-month deployment to Bagram Air
Base, Afghanistan, where he served as
the assistant director of operations for the
774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron.
Ronald M. Zielin ‘84
is the owner and
president of Offsite-Technology Solutions,
a Tampa, Fla., based IT Services provider.
He lives in Tampa with wife, Lara Kass, and
two children.

left Atricure, Inc.,
a medical device company he helped to
develop and which went public in 2005, to
accept the position of vice president of R &
D at Bard Medical.
Richard I. Kralik ‘84
celebrated eight
years in business at ALTIS Consulting
Group, a supply chain/IT consulting firm
that he started in 2004.
Paul S. Bartolone ‘84
recently accepted a
position as senior business banking relation-
ship manager for KeyBank in Buffalo, N.Y.
Anthony Grisanti ‘85
is currently serving
as the group leader/production supervisor
for the GM Ecotec Engine Cylinder Head
Machining Group in the Tonawanda, N.Y.,
Engine Manufacturing Facility.
Matthew J. O’Brien ‘86
was recently
promoted to full professor of history at
Franciscan University. In addition, C-SPAN
III filmed one of his class lectures on British,
Soviet and American perceptions of World
War II, to be aired in fall 2012.
