Canisius High School Today
Dear Canisius friends,
We all had options when we chose to attend Canisius High School (albeit some fewer than
others). But I think we all realized, in one way or another, that going to Canisius was our
best chance to maximize our potential. A Canisius education is an opportunity for young
men to earn a great education, develop both intellectually and spiritually and become
members of a proud community. These benefits last a lifetime and, in many cases, have
spanned generations.
Canisius remains a tremendous value in education, where over 98 percent
of our graduates havematriculated to college over the last six years, earning
more than $15million annually in academic scholarships. These incredible
numbers speak to the quality of the education. Indeed, the value proposi-
tion comes with the fact that the annual cost of tuition covers approximate-
ly 80 percent of a student’s education at Canisius. Additionally, Canisius
provides nearly $2 million in tuition assistance and merit awards on an
annual basis. Canisius is not unique in that the annual cost of a student’s
education is more than the cost of tuition. However we are more generous
than most thanks to our benefactors. We are proud of that fact. Our mis-
sion states that we serve young men from diverse backgrounds, and your
support of our annual fund, endowments, planned giving and capital cam-
paign allow deserving young men to be students at Canisius.
The one thing I hear more than anything else since taking my role is “You
just need to ask.” So here goes: Will you please support Jesuit education and
help the students of Canisius High School continue to reach their full po-
tential with a financial gift to the school?
Please give for the benefit of the students, but please become an activemember of our com-
munity for your benefit. Join us at our alumni networking events or consider volunteer-
ing alongside of our students at their Habitat for Humanity house or at St. Luke’s Mission
of Mercy. Come root on your Crusaders to a win; catch a play or musical concert; attend
GAMBIT or attend an alumni Mass. Something is going on at Canisius on a daily basis, and
yes, our students benefit from your support, but you can continue to benefit as well. Please
participate, andmaximize your potential as a member of the Canisius community.
Feel free to call me or the Alumni Office if you have any questions about a gift or an event.
Thank you for your support.
