Canisius Connections
• class of 1960
• parent of canisius gr aduate
• former board of trustees member
• canisius founder
• class agent
• chair, class of 1960 50th reunion
My more than 50-year afliation with Canisius and Jesuits has been very fruitful for me and
my family. I have established lifelong friends from my school days. I hadn’t planned on going to
Canisius, but my father “forced” me to take the entrance exam. When my father died in my junior
year, my whole class attended his funeral.
I am grateful for the Jesuit education and the discipline I received. Father Sturm, the Prefect of
Discipline, made an enormous impact on my growing up, and I have always appreciated his
“guidance.” I am also grateful for my son’s Jesuit education and that he has turned out to be an
exceptional person, dad and business professional.
I have a saying: “If you do today what you did yesterday, you‘ll get tomorrow what you got today.”
That isn’t good enough. You need to be getting better every day, or your competitors will pass you by.
I’ve seen Canisius from many aspects and am committed to its continued success. I try to give back
so that others will have the same opportunity I had. The four years at Canisius are the most
formative years in a young man’s life and, if done properly, will assure future success.
