Dear Canisius Family,
As we look back on a very successful 2011–2012 school year, I would like to thank the many
benefactors whose generosity has helped Canisius through these turbulent economic times.
We’ve come out of the recession stronger than ever, as evidenced by some impressive statistics:
• Enrollment is at an all-time high of 886 students.
• This year’s freshman class numbered 266 (also a record).
• All of these students are comfortably accommodated on our expanded
Bufalo campus and our West Seneca athletic complex.
• Canisius has already received a record number of applicants for next year’s
freshman class and has decided to cap enrollment at 250 students.
The school’s mission is being carried out every day, and none of it would have occurred
without your generosity. Your dollars have made it possible for Canisius to become the
preeminent secondary school in Western New York…and we’ve just begun to hit the accelerator.
I’m confdent that we’ve got the right faculty, student body and solid alumni corps to grow
in spite of Western New York’s weak economy and shrinking population base. By refocusing
on our Jesuit identity, Canisius is separating itself from the pack and reclaiming a leadership
position that we haven’t seen in decades.
Thanks again for making this journey possible. We rely on your continuing support and invite
you to visit 1180 Delaware Avenue to see the progress you’ve helped to make possible.
Sincerely,
Joe Koessler ‘81
President
