The year 2011–2012 saw continued progress for Canisius
High School in all areas of endeavor. Here are some highlights
from a fscal standpoint:
• Annual Fund Giving, $728,000: up 4% from 2011
• Gambit Net Income, $386,000, which included a
$100,000 gift, up 23%
• Special project donations for two Crew Boats, $69,000;
more in 2012–13
• The School Weight Room project, $17,000 in gifts in
June 2012; more in 2012–13
• 500,000 iPad implementation to provide devices
for students and teachers
• $2,352,000 in Scholarships and need-based grants
awarded, up 10%
We continued to improve the physical plant, with a total rebuild
of the Guidance ofce space. The exterior of the older building
and chimneys were repointed, a Senior Lounge was built (and
has proven to be very popular), and a handicapped elevator was
added to the building (the last major piece of the $22 million
school expansion project).
Capital Campaign gifts are a high priority for Canisius High
School. The brick and mortar part is complete, but the
fundraising continues. We need a continuing in-fow of gift
money to pay for this project over the coming years. The project
is paying dividends for the School in terms of prestige,
enrollment and our position among other Bufalo schools.
Annual Fund and other fundraising gifts are equally important
as they help to fund our cost of running Canisius High School.
